Weekend Workshop

Cancelled for family reasons, Dec 6.

Enrique Pardo, founder and codirector of PANTHEATRE will be giving a weekend workshop in New York City on December 11, 12, and 13 (2009). This is an opportunity to discover PANTHEATRE's work, update your memories, and enter the inspiration and pleasure of one of today's greatest theatre laboratories.

The work : Voice Performance and Choreographic Theatre

Enrique Pardo pulls towards performance plots, with a quite unique take on the art of improvisation, which he defines as "imps at work". Both Enrique and codirector Linda Wise were part of the original Roy Hart Theatre and have surprising takes on this famous voice work.

The weekend theme : "Panic Plots"

A plot is both a place and a narrative, and one of PANTHEATRE's main mottos is: "if you find your place you will find your voice." It means thinking more in terms of "where am I?" (imagination) instead of "who am I?" (identity). The imagination of place is linked with the question of 'placing your voice', especially within ensemble work. Panic, on the other hand, is the main manifestation of Great Pan - the Greek pastoral god after which Pantheatre is named. And panic makes you "go places".

We also have the pleasure of a visit by psychologist and playwright Nor Hall who is one of the inspiring figures of PANTHEATRE. A panel talk titled "Catching Up" is scheduled during the weekend. Time and place to be confirmed.
