van Dijk, actor, teacher and director, has created Pantheatre Poneke
in Wellington. He worked with Pantheatre in Europe, in The Alchemical
Theatre project, Palermo, 1989; and in Nero,
in London in 1991. Emigrating to New Zealand in 1992, he invited Enrique in '95
to direct Xenophoria - an exhilarating solo performance
integrating both biographical and historical material: when Tasman 'discovered'
Aotearoa, his Dutch sailors and the Maori, who turned up to greet them, misunderstood
each others' signals to such a degree that they massacred each other! Bert and
Pantheatre Poneke have since created various performances,
most recently: The Butterfly's Evil Spell, a sensual,
poetical feast, with 8 mainly Polynesian actor-dancers. Bert gives regular "choreographic
theatre" workshops in New Zealand and in Australia. Currently he is running
a 2-year trainings program in self-devised theatre and extended voice work.
5 years of regular teaching, projects and performances directed by Enrique Pardo
and Linda Wise in Milano, 2 companies now exist affiliated to Pantheatre: ESTIA
directed by Michela Capato Sartore, who originated the projects in Milano and
produced Mozziconi in 1996 - a piece based on the work
of the Milano poetess, Alda Merini; and MIMANDIROSE Ensemble, a company
of actresses led by Giovanna Lue, who created Jason
and Medea: Postmortem, in November, 1998.
Ensemble, directed by Marie Elliot-Gartner. This group produced Rosenhell
und Bildersturm, a macabre, baroque cabaret based on The
Dream and the Underworld by James Hillman, in September 1997. They
are pursuing further productions and research programmes.
Two directors and
actresses, Luciana Airez Mezquita and Larissa Malty are setting up a series of
projects in Brazil (Brazilia, Rio and Sao Paolo).
