PANTHEATRE a mis en place de l'aide directe pour les amis du projet PAN-HAITI autour de PAULA CLERMONT PEAN directrice du Centre Culturel Pyepoudre www.pyepoudre.org qui nous a envoyé un premier COMPTE RENDU des donations et de l'état du Centre.

France Hervé organise des soirées chez elle à Montreuil. Elle a collaboré avec Paula Clermont récemment à Port au Prince. Voir sa lettre et propositions.

Beth Sheldon, UK, suggests : "I have been speaking to my mum who is a teacher at a secondary school, they are planning on doing an out of school uniform day to raise funds for Haiti, I have asked if they would consider donating the money raised to Pan- Haiti.
Any chance you could tell me bit more about the organisation that Paula runs and where the money would be going so i can go and convince the school to give to a smaller community rather than one of the big charities. I think if they knew they would recieve word of who and how it has helped then they would be interested. I would also hope that if a relationship was formed between Paula's organisation and the school then they may be interested in future fundraising events too. I feel that long term, art within the community is going to be essential for the healing of Haiti so l feel this could be a great relationship formed to help Paula with future work." First direct casualty : Christine Louis died in the rubble of her house. Première victime directe : Christine Louis est décédée dans l'écroulement de sa maison.
France Hervé nous écrit : "il y a également Valérie Tardieu, comédienne qui jouait aussi avec nous, qui a péri sous les décombres."
Paula Clermont - va bien - elle organize le réseau. Le Centre Culturel Pyepoudre a été détruit - quelques équipements et livres à sauver. // She is well. The Centre Culturel Pyepoudre has been destroyed. Some equipment and books can be salvaged.
Allenby Augustin - va bien, il était avec Paula lors du tremblement de terre. Sa petite soeur très blessée (dos cassé!), sa maison détruite. // He is OK was with Paula when the earthquake took place. His house is down. His little sister terribly wounded (back brocken.)
Patrick Joseph - se trouve en tournée à Ouagadougou. Sa maison est "cassée"... Ses parents ont besoin d'aide. Il sera à Paris le 7 février.

Christine Louis: Pas de nouvelles de Christine non plus mais il faut croire que jusqu'à présent la communication est quasiment absente à tous les niveaux -- Christine est décédée dans l'écroulement de sa maison. Christine died when her house collapsed.
Jean Marc Mondésir et sa famille vont bien mais ils ont passé 2 jours a trainer dans les rues de la ville – maison détruite. Ce n’est qu’après ces deux jours qu’on a pu les trouver. Ils sont à Cabaret depuis.
Nino Emmanuel Periclès va très bien. Il va de communauté en communauté pour apporter du secours aux malades

PANTHEATRE poursuit ses échanges avec HAITI avec un projet en deux phases :
- offrir des bourses d'études à deux artistes haïtiens, pour qu'il puissent venir en France participer au Stage Professionnel Annuel à Paris (28 septembre au 20 novembre 2009 soit 8 semaines).
La finalité est d'offrir à ces deux artistes une formation en tant que créateurs qui fassent le pont entre le théâtre contemporain - et notamment le théâtre chorégraphique - et les traditions mythologiques haïtiennes, notamment vodou.
- organiser un projet en Haïti pour 2011 ou 2012 autour du dialogue entre PANTHEATRE et Haïti, en incluant un Festival Mythe et Théâtre sur les traditions vodou.
Ce projet est organisé par PANTHEATRE, sous la direction artistique de Enrique Pardo et Linda Wise, en collaboration avec Paula Clermont Péan, directrice du Centre Culturel Pyepoudre, Port au Prince - et avec la collaboration de Haim Isaacs.
Il fait suite au projet de formation et de création "Le Partage du Sel", Port au Prince, septembre 2008. Mis en scène par Enrique Pardo, direction musicale d'Izidor Leitinger.
Les deux artistes présentis pour les bourses 2009 sont Allenby Augustin et Patrick Joseph.

ASPECTS PRATIQUES
PANTHEATRE offre de prendre en charge la participation au Stage Professionnel des deux artistes. Les coûts annexes à couvrir sont :
- le voyage Haïti / Paris (Allengy et Patrick on réussi à trouver le financement des voyages!)
- le logement - par exemple, nous avons déjà une offre d'accueil quelques semaines pendant le stage (octobre / novembre 2009.)
- le coût du séjour (nourriture et frais supplémentaires - notamment sorties spectacles)

ASPECTS MYTHOLOGIQUES

Je dois admettre d'emblée ma fascination et mon admiration pour la culture vodou en Haïti. J’eus le plaisir et le privilège de diriger un projet de création à Port au Prince avec un large cercle d’artistes haïtiens réunis grâce à Paula Clermont Péan. Le titre de la création, d’après le poète haïtien Franketienne, était « Le Partage du Sel ». Il faut bien dire que pour Haïti, aujourd’hui, l’addition est, comme on dit, salée. En avril 2008 nous avons travaillé pendant les émeutes de la faim. En septembre, lors du passage de quatre cyclones dévastateurs ! Mais ce « partage du sel » est, en ce qui me concerne, un vrai échange. La culture vodou s’est façonnée sous des contraintes et des souffrances exceptionnelles, mais le résultat, l’héritage psychologique et donc, pour nous, artistique, est exceptionnel, voire unique au monde. Mythologiquement Haïti a élaboré un trésor de syncrétisme païen. Imaginez une commedia dell’arte qui a visité les enfers… S'il y a un lieu culturel qui justifie la phrase suivante de J.M.G. Le Clézio, c'est bien Haïti et le Vodou : « Un jour, on saura peut-être qu’il n’y avait pas d’art, mais seulement de la médecine. »
Le Festival Mythe et Théâtre est au cœur de la démarche de PANTHEATRE. Avec le Projet Pan-Haïti, nous voulons donner les moyens à deux ou davantage d’artistes haïtiens de venir se former et étudier avec nous justement sur ce pont entre mythologie et création théâtrale. Ensuite, en 2011, nous voulons organiser un Festival Mythe et Théâtre en Haïti, et aider les artistes que se sont formés avec nous à lancer leur travail en Haïti. Ce festival inclurait aussi des échanges avec des praticiens et des personnalités du Vodou, notamment avec Max Beauvoir, Rachel Beauvoir-Dominique et le poète Franketienne.

PAN-HAITI PROJECT
English presentation
PANTHEATRE continues its exchanges with HAITI with a project in two phases:
- offering grants to two Haitian artists, so that they can come to France to take part in the Annual Professional Training course in Paris (September 28 to November 20, 2009, 8 weeks).
The finality is to offer to these two artists as artists-creators, building bridges between contemporary theatre - and especially choreographic theatre - and the Haiti's own mythological traditions, in particular with Vodou.
- to organize a project in Haiti in 2011 or 2012 around working dialogues between PANTHEATRE and Haiti, and include a Myth and Theatre Festival on the theme of Vodou.

PRACTICAL ASPECTS
PANTHEATRE offers full bursaries for the participation in its Professional Training course for the two artists. The extra costs that need to be covered for 2009 are:
- the Haiti / Paris journeys (Both Allenby and Patrick have managed to finance their journeys !)
- housing in Paris - we have, for example, an offer of lodging for one during some weeks of the training course (October / Novembre 2009.)
- the cost of the stay (food and additional expenses - in particular seeing performances.

MYTHOLOGICAL ASPECTS

I must confess from the very onset my fascination and my admiration for Vodou culture in Haiti. I had the pleasure and the privilege to direct a performance in Port au Prince with a broad circle of Haitian artists brought together by Paula Clermont Péan. The title of the performance, from a text by Haitian poet Franketienne, was “Le Partage du Sel” (Sharing the Salt) – and it must be said, Haiti is paying today a ‘salty’ bill. In April 2008 we worked during the hunger riots. In September, under four devastating hurricanes! As far as I am concerned, this “sharing the salt” is a true exchange. Vodou culture was forged by exceptional constraints and sufferings, but the result, the psychological and artistic heritage is exceptional, even unique in the world. Mythologically, Haiti has assembled an amazing pagan synchretistic treasure. Imagine a Commedia dell’Arte that has visited hell… If there is a cultural place which justifies the following sentence by French author and Nobel prize J.M.G. Le Clézio, it is surely Haiti and Vodou: “Perhaps one day we will realize that there was no such thing as art, but that it was all medicine.”
The Myth and Theatre Festival is at the heart of the cultural endeavours of PANTHEATRE. With the Pan-Haiti Project we want to give two or more Haitian artists the means to come and study with us precisely on the bridge between mythology and theatre. Then, in 2011, we would organize a Myth and Theatre Festival in Haiti, in order to help these artists launch their work and take part in exchanges with experts and practitioners of Vodou, in particular with Max Beauvoir, Rachel Beauvoir-Dominique and the poet Franketienne. |
